Abstract

The importance of the role of technology in economic growth has been widely demonstrated by some of the results of previous studies. In the period 1984 to 2013, the average growth of the highest technology Provinces in Indonesia won by South Sulawesi province. The results showed that the average composition of the growth of technology (TFP) to economic growth in the province during the period 1984 to 2013 amounted to 2.96%. However, TFP growth is smaller than the composition of growth in the capital stock of 3:06%, but greater than the composition of the labor force growth of 0.94%. Therefore, strategies are needed to increase the role of technology in promoting economic growth in the province. Some strategies are needed to increase the role of technology in promoting economic growth in the province of North Sulawesi, among others, to develop the manufacturing sector, creating a business climate that is attractive, synchronization of development policy agricultural sector in line with the industrial sector, improvement of the quality of the work force to support industrialization, convert public savings into investment in productive sectors and improving the quality of the composition of the budget
