PENGGUNAAN EUCALYPTUS OIL SEBAGAI BAHAN PELARUT GUTAPERCA DAN SEALER PADA PERAWATAN SALURAN AKAR ULANG
Abstract
Latar Belakang: Perawatan saluran akar (PSA) merupakan salah satu cara untuk mempertahankan jaringan gigi di dalam mulut, yang bertujuan untuk menghilangkan infeksi bakteri dari sistem saluran akar dan mencegah timbulnya infeksi kembali. Persentase keberhasilan PSA mencapai angka 90%–95%, sehingga masih mungkin terjadi kegagalan dan perlu dilakukan PSA ulang. PSA ulang secara konvensional atau non bedah, yaitu dengan instrumentasi dan penambahan bahan pelarut seperti eucalyptus oil yang mampu mempermudah prosesnya. Tujuan: Menjelaskan penggunaan eucalyptus oil sebagai bahan pelunak gutaperca dan sealer dalam perawatan saluran akar ulang. Metode: Referensi didapat dari jurnal, textbook dan website yang diakses melalui database Google Scholar. Jenis referensi yang diambil berupa laporan penelitian, dan studi pustaka yang diterbitkan dari tahun 2012–2022. Kesimpulan: Terdapat perbedaan pendapat dari para ahli tentang penggunaan eucalyptus oil dalam melarutkan gutaperca dan sealer, tetapi mayoritas para ahli menjelaskan bahwa eucalyptus oil merupakan bahan pelarut yang dapat digunakan sebagai pengganti kloroform.
