Self-Presentation melalui Foto AI: Studi Fenomenologi Pengguna Prompt dari Akun Kreator AI
Abstract
The current phenomenon of AI-generated photos on TikTok has transformed the way people construct and present their identities on social media. This study aims to understand and interpret how TikTok users conceptualize self-presentation and manage their image through AI-generated photos in the process of building their digital identities. This study employs a qualitative approach using phenomenology as its methodology. The subjects of this study are TikTok users who utilize AI technology to create or upload photos that showcase their ideal identities on TikTok. Data collection techniques included interviews and document analysis as primary data. Data analysis followed a reflective hermeneutic procedure, incorporating Erving Goffman’s theory of self-presentation. The results of the study indicate that the use of AI-generated photos on TikTok is driven by a fear of missing out on trends, a practical need to create an ideal identity, and curiosity about this technology. Users negotiate their authentic and ideal identities some maintain a resemblance to their real-life appearance, while others create new personas with TikTok as their primary stage because it is perceived as the most liberating platform. However, behind this increased self-confidence lies the pressure to maintain an image that reflects dependence on technology.
