Transformasi Radio Republik Indonesia: dari Public Service Broadcasting ke Public Service Media
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the transformation of Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) from Public Service Broadcasting (PSB) to Public Service Media (PSM) in response to the evolving digital media ecosystem. The research employs a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, document analysis, and observations of the ongoing public media transformation within RRI. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and thematic conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that RRI's transformation has been marked by the development of digital platforms, streaming services, podcasts, online news portals, and social media integration as part of its media convergence strategy. However, the transformation remains largely focused on technological digitalization rather than comprehensive institutional reform. Major challenges include bureaucratic organizational culture, limited funding mechanisms, regulatory frameworks that have not fully adapted to the Public Service Media paradigm, and changing audience behavior increasingly oriented toward digital platforms. This study proposes an Indonesian Public Service Media transformation model that highlights digitalization, organizational transformation, audience transformation, governance reform, and financial sustainability as key determinants of successful public media transformation in the digital era.
